The script seems to currently be broken. I did some quick debugging and it looks like mediaPlayerInstance is always null.

I am sorry, Twitch changed some stuff a few weeks ago.
I will look into it and update asap.

Huh, that's curious. While debugging I tried just increasing the counter from 30 to something like 60 and couldn't fix it. I must've broken something else while I was messing with the code :D
