closed captions/subtitles seems to not appear for both non-automatic and automatic mode
for me this happens to the players "Flash7" and "2013-2015 [V3 Default]" up to "2021-Present" except for the Embed Player, though these screenshots are both showing the 2013-2015 [V3 Default] one
(fyi about my browser, i moved back to using librewolf lol because pale moon was cooking my cpu every time i open youtube with another tab, which sucks bc i really like pale moon's visuals)
