This user script allows you to easily disable various YouTube hotkeys using a modern settings page with a sleek UI. You can disable hotkeys like numeric keys (0-9), spacebar, arrow keys, fullscreen (F), mute (M), speed control (Shift + > / <), and frame skipping (, and .) based on your preferences.

The settings are accessible via a user-friendly modal with modern styling, including custom checkboxes and smooth animations. No need to manually interact with YouTube hotkeys anymore—this script lets you choose which keys to disable for a more customized experience.

How It Works

  1. Once the script is installed, click the Tampermonkey icon in your browser’s toolbar.
  2. Select "YouTube Hotkey Settings" from the dropdown menu.
  3. A modern settings modal will appear where you can toggle which hotkeys to disable.
  4. After making your selections, click Save Settings. A notification will confirm that your preferences have been saved.
  5. You can always return to the settings page to modify or reset your preferences.

Hotkeys You Can Disable

  • Numeric Keys (0-9): Disable seeking to specific points in the video using the number keys.
  • Spacebar: Disable play/pause functionality with the spacebar.
  • Arrow Keys: Disable left/right arrows for rewind/fast-forward and up/down arrows for volume control.
  • Fullscreen (F): Disable toggling fullscreen with the F key.
  • Mute (M): Disable muting/unmuting with the M key.
  • Speed Control (Shift + > / <): Disable adjusting playback speed using the Shift + > and Shift + < keys.
  • Frame Skip (, and .): Disable skipping frames forward and backward using the , and . keys.

Installation

  1. Install Tampermonkey or Violentmonkey for your browser.
  2. Click Install on this page to add the script.
  3. Configure your hotkeys by accessing the YouTube Hotkey Settings in Tampermonkey's menu.
