YouTube Auto-Resume

This script automatically tracks and restores your YouTube playback position. This user script remembers where you left off in any video—allowing you to seamlessly continue watching even after navigating away or reloading the page. It saves your progress for each video for up to 3 days (configurable) and automatically cleans up outdated entries, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted viewing experience every time.

Features:

  • The script tracks and remembers each YouTube video's playback progress so can resume to the exact playback position without relying on YouTube's implementation. Playback progress is saved for 3 days by default.
  • Live content have their playback time from being modified. However, their playback progress is still tracked and saved so you can returned to the last playback time if you choose to close the stream and watch the VOD at a later time.
  • Previews on the YouTube homepage are tracked so you can resume exactly when you clicked the preview, instead of restarting from the beginning. This works nicely with the YouTube Preview Unmute script that I have made.
  • Shorts playback progress are tracked and saved. Not sure what this achieves so this may be removed in a future update.
Note:
  • YouTube music is not explicitly supported and probably will not work.
